Travel: A Getaway for the Culinary Enthusiast: Langdon Hall

Langdon Hall Country House Hotel & Spa

Visiting Langdon Hall is like stepping into another place and time. Only a short drive from Toronto (about 45 minutes to an hour), it's a dream destination for those looking for a little rest and relaxation. But the hotel offers much more than that. A historic property that features award-winning cuisine, a luxurious spa and a garden oasis...this place really offers a unique experience.

Below, I share my more about my overnight stay.

Accommodations

The rooms at Langdon Hall have a vintage style and charm along with all of the luxury that you would expect from a high-end boutique hotel.

I stayed in the Cloisters rooms which was close to the spa and exercise room. When I first walked in, I noticed how spacious it was! The bathrooms were upgraded and finished with beautiful fixtures.

The feather beds and down-filled duvets were so comfortable, I couldn't help but want to stay in bed a little while longer.

I quickly realized this hotel is all about the little details and nothing went unnoticed. From the luxe bath products, comfortable slippers, robes in the closet and my favourite - a bowl of strawberries from the garden that was waiting for us when we checked it.

Side note: I have never tasted such delicious strawberries in my life!

The hotel also features a terrace bar (but you can enjoy expertly made cocktails at all of the bars onsite), an outdoor pool and indoor sauna, hot tub and exercise room.

Overnight packages here start around $575/couple for a Sunday night arrival and include dinner and breakfast. While it seems like a splurge, trust me when I say that staying here will be a truly exceptional experience.

Cuisine

Langdon Hall's restaurant is renowned and has won many awards. The Dining Room has won the 5 Diamond Restaurant Award every year since 2014. It is in fact, Ontario's only restaurant with this status.

Executive Chef, Jason Bangerter is truly a culinary superstar, with many awards and accolades under his belt. Most recently, he was recognized as Canada's Best Farm to Table Chef for 2017. When you taste your first bite of his food, you will know exactly why.

Chef Jason says he is inspired by the ingredients that he finds in the gardens. The 75 acre property also has a hen house, honey hives and foraging for wild edibles onsite which means each dish is prepared with the freshest ingredients.

We tried the Chef's tasting menu and were completely blown away! If you consider yourself a foodie, consider this a must have dining experience. From the cod fritters served on salted cod to the delicious "potted soil" quinoa and radish salads, to the expertly crafted dessert, my tastebuds were on cloud 9!

Gardens and Grounds

The gardens and grounds at Langdon Hall are truly spectacular. If you are a nature lover, you will love walking around the Victorian style gardens which actually follow the original historic plans.

Strolling along the paths, I was transported into an old English garden with roses, hydrangeas and peonies.

I loved the tranquility of the patio and lily pond. It was the perfect place to sit back and relax.

But my favourite spot on the property has to be the solarium. I could sit in that space for hours- just give me a book and a cup of tea.

Being in this indoor/outdoor space made me realize- a solarium is definitely on my wish list for a future dream home.

We enjoyed lunch outdoors on our second day and took our time - relaxing in the garden paradise.
If you love the outdoors, make sure you go on a tour of the grounds and gardens. It was such a fun and educational experience.

Pulled these out of the ground and ate them a few minutes later. They were so sweet!

Overall I just loved the escape that visiting Langdon Hall provided. It's a serene oasis that offers upscale dining and incredible amenities.

I've visited for drinks in the winter and it was equally as charming. I will definitely will be back and can't wait to experience this stunning property in all four seasons.

A big thank you to my friends at Langdon Hall Country House for sponsoring this post. As always, all views and opinions are my own.
