Review: Maison Du Japon

Last week two of my friends and I decided it was time for a reunion. They are two of my close friends from university so we thought we'd visit a local restaurant we used to frequent in the "good old days".

Maison du Japon - all you can eat sushi in Markham. The kind of place you can go for lunch and not want to eat again until the next day. This sushi place had an infamous lunch for just $12.95 and I wondered if it still offerred the great food that went with that great price.
The dinner price is a little higher- $16.99 on a weeknight but still well worth it in my opinion.

I'm happy to report that we tried pretty much everything that sounded tempting and everything was quite good. Here are my top picks if you decide to visit yourself:

Miso soup
Edamame
Yam tempura (love this- it's so so good)
Spicy crispy salmon maki
Stirfry vegetables
Salmon teriyaki
Above all...you must try the ginger ice-cream. Sounds strange but it's vanilla ice-cream mixed with small pieces of candied ginger. It was so good that I literally didn't stop to take a picture when it came out. It's the best way to finish a huge meal too as ginger has properties that make it a digestive aid.

So overall I do recommend Maison Du Japon for it's great value and price. Not the most amazing sushi I've ever had in my life- but you can't really expect that from an all you can eat.  It makes a great spot for a lunch/dinner out with family and friends because it's affordable.
Never really understood the connection with Japan and France in the restaurant name - definitely no French food here.
